Self-taught, I started as a photojournalist, writing, photographing and doing the DTP layout of a newspaper features section.
Wanting the opportunity to specialize in photography, I began as an apprentice photographer in the studio of a large print media house. Learning the fundamentals of light, composition, and creating rapport with my subjects while providing imagery for the portfolio of Caxton magazine titles, I worked with food, fashion, décor and models.
Eventually, the opportunity to focus on shooting magazine covers arose – working with a competitor print magazine publishing house Media 24, resulting in my now having photographed over 300 Magazine covers, shot both in studio and on location. All the while continuing to work with other clients and in other projects, culminating in a creative portfolio that is both large and varied.
My career has taken me all across South Africa, and to many countries around the world. I have worked with a multitude of fascinating individuals, creating images of the highest caliber, while best representing my subject matter’s qualities.
I value clear communication with clients, and my subjects, ensuring the most suitable outcome for any shoot. A variety of techniques and approaches are used in the execution of any photographic brief, achieving the most desirable visual outcome.
